Every Menu Needs a Workhorse
Nobody writes love letters to the hot dog. It doesn't get featured in food magazines. Instagram influencers don't make pilgrimages for it. And yet, the hot dog has been on the Newport Creamery menu since we opened our doors, outselling plenty of flashier items and quietly satisfying millions of customers over the decades.
It's time the hot dog got its due.
The Flat-Top Treatment
Like everything else at Newport Creamery, our hot dogs get the flat-top grill treatment. This isn't a boiled hot dog sitting in water for hours. It's grilled until the skin gets a slight snap, placed in a toasted New England-style split-top bun, and served with whatever toppings you want.
The split-top bun matters more than you think. Toasted on the flat-top, it gets buttery and golden on the sides, creating a cradle for the dog that's both structural and delicious. It's the New England way, and we wouldn't do it any other way.
The People's Champion
Here's something most people don't realize: hot dogs are one of the top five most-ordered items across all eight Newport Creamery locations. Not because they're exciting. Because they're reliable. Parents order them for kids who won't eat anything else. Regulars order them as a quick lunch. Seniors order them because they always have.
The hot dog doesn't need hype. It needs a flat-top, a good bun, and a restaurant that takes it seriously even when nobody's watching. That's us.

Our two-hot-dog meal with fries is one of the best values on the menu. It's honest, filling, and satisfying in a way that transcends trend. Sometimes you don't need a gourmet experience. Sometimes you need two hot dogs, a pile of fries, and a cold drink.
